On Thursday Evening I was lucky enough to be involved in The Forgotten feast @ Fleet River Bakery, with eco chef Tom Hunt. It was a FoodCycle event to raise awareness of the amount of food waste in the UK. It was a ticketed event where all money went to the charity FoodCycle. All the food served was as a result of food donations for the event- Surplus food mixed with the creative ideas of Tom Hunt, provided the guests with a very interesting and delicious menu.
As the guests arrived they were served an arrival drink and canapes:
Tom then gave a small presentation to let everyone know why the event was taking place and what was on the menu:
As the guests got comfy, a starter was prepared of Forage wild salad with Mackerel escabeche and pickled carrots:
The main course was a selection of tapas style plates; Rolled Pig’s head Porchetta, Home salted Pollock & Sole, Roasted red peppers with capers and balsamic vinegar, Ovale Tomatoes with salsa verde, Roasted Carrots with cumin and parsley, Grilled courgettes and radicchio with sesame seeds, and Cleo the sourdough bread. It was delicious!!
Dessert was a Chocolate Torte with fruit and whisked ricotta:
